algorithm description The latest algorithm version is described in the Algorithm Document. Please note that this document was essentially written for the GOME-2 surface albedo database. This should not be a problem as the retrieval algorithms are very similar.

validation results The SCIAMACHY surface albedo climatology contains the Lambertian-equivalent reflectivity of the Earth's surface, for each month of the year and for in total 34 wavelength bands ranging from 328 nm to 2314 nm. The database has been compared to the TOMS, GOME-1, OMI, MERIS, and GOME-2 surfaces albedo databases (Tilstra et al., 2017) [PDF]. The surface albedo values compare very well to those of the other databases. The current version of the database contains the surface albedo for the following wavelengths: 328, 335, 340, 354, 367, 380, 388, 425, 440, 463, 494, 510, 526, 546, 555, 564, 614, 640, 670, 685, 697, 712, 758, 772, 862, 875, 1030, 1053, 1245, 1557, 1593, 1630, 1670, and 2314 nm.
