CO vertical column by SRON, Utrecht
(last update: 16 Sep 2009)
|
| validation summary |
Comparisons of SCIAMACHY IMLM v7.4 CO columns with Fourier-Transform Spectrometers (19 stations world wide) for the period 2003-2007 show consistent results (De Laat et al. 2010, submitted): no significant systematic bias in the tropical regions or northern hemisphere, agreement typically within 10%. A significantly low bias is found south of 45S of >10% depending on latitude and time period: the bias increases further south and decreases in time. Single measurement precision 10-100%; monthly means precision <10% (i.e. ~1e17 molecules/cm2). Details can be found on the SCIAMACHY CO product webpage. |
| available data |
Five years of data, i.e. January 2003 through December 2007, have been processed using the IMLM algorithm version 7.4. The data can be ordered via e-mail or via the 'order this product' button above. All available information, including conditions for using the data, is given on the SRON IMLM website. This is a purely scientific product and thus requires co-authorship of the retrieval group if the data is used for any publication. |

Global comparison of SCIAMACHY and MOPITT CO column measurements for the years 2004 and 2005. Quantitative comparisons have been performed taking the effects of instrument noise errors, vertical sensitivities via the averaging kernel and a priori, different spatio-temporal sampling and clouds into account using simulated CO profiles from the TM4 model |
